Out with the leaking boiler, in with a new Worcester Bosch
A homeowner in Aylesbury gave us a call after spotting that their boiler was leaking. It was an older boiler, and once we’d had a proper look inside, the leak turned out to be just one of several problems.
Here’s how we replaced it with a new Worcester Bosch Greenstar 4000 in the loft, complete with new controls and a 10-year manufacturer’s guarantee.

At a glance
The problem
When we arrived, our inspection found that several components inside the boiler were beginning to fail, not just the part that was leaking. Repairs were possible, but replacing several parts on an already old boiler wouldn’t have been good value for the customer.
So we talked the customer through the options: keep repairing it, or replace it with a new boiler that would look after the house for years to come.
Before
An ageing, leaking boiler
Several parts starting to fail, with repair costs adding up on an old appliance.
After
A new Worcester Bosch Greenstar 4000
New heating controls, a fully tested system and a 10-year manufacturer’s guarantee.
What we did
Removing the old boiler
The customer decided a new boiler was the way to go. We removed the old appliance and made the alterations needed to the existing pipework to suit the new one.
A new Greenstar 4000 in the loft
The new Worcester Bosch Greenstar 4000 went into the loft. We insulated the pipework running through the loft too, which helps protect it from freezing in cold weather and cuts down on wasted heat.
New controls and a full commission
We fitted new heating controls, then fully commissioned and tested the new boiler and the whole heating system to make sure everything was working as it should.

Frequently asked questions
Is it worth repairing an old boiler?
Sometimes. If it’s one affordable part on a boiler that’s otherwise in good shape, a repair can make sense. When several parts are failing on an older boiler, as they were here, a new boiler is usually the better value.
Can a boiler be fitted in the loft?
Often, yes. A loft boiler needs safe access, a boarded floor and lighting so it can be serviced, and the pipework up there should be insulated to protect it in winter. We’ll check your loft is suitable when we survey.
How do I keep the 10-year guarantee valid?
Worcester Bosch guarantees need the boiler servicing every year by a Gas Safe registered engineer. Our boiler care plans include your annual service, so it’s one less thing to remember.
